Guidelines and Rules - SUBMISSIONS OVER !

These were the rules – you violated them at your own perils:

  1. Your film is 'short-short' short – like, five minutes short. This is from first frame to last frame of the film. Some small amount of time for credits won't necessarily count towards the five-minute mark, so long as they aren't epic. While films longer than five minutes will not be accepted for the competition, exceptional work may be programmed but not eligible for prizes.

  2. New York Short Short Film Festival will accept and screen films that have premiered, screened or otherwise presented elsewhere.

  3. The submission is handled through  our Printable Online Submission Form. Registration at Without-a-Box, has expired on 5/1/06. Our nyssff.com Online Submission Form deadline is 5/15/06.  Submit a screener copy via US mail only . The submission fee is $10. The following formats (and only the following formats) will be selected for consideration:

    1. VHS (NTSC)
    2. miniDV (NTSC)
    3. DVD (Region 1 NTSC)

  5. Your film will be entered in 1 of 5 categories:

    1. Animation
    2. Documentary
    3. Experimental
    4. Narrative
    5. Music Video/Music Themed

You will make sure we know which of these categories your film is entered under.

  1. After the late deadline, the selection committee will choose the Official Selections for the festival in the same four categories. While there is no formula for choosing Selections, the criteria include: quality of the work, interest to the viewer, relationship to festival theme . Selections will be notified via email and phone call and posted on the NYSSFF website on 05/15/06

  2. At such time, you will be invited to mail or drop-off to us the final screening copy (If the one sent is not acceptable). Acceptable formats include: 35mm, 16mm, Beta SP, Mini DV, DVD (Region 1 NTSC).

  3. The jury will select winners in each category. While there is no formula for choosing Winners, the criteria include: quality of the work, interest to the viewer, relationship to the festival theme, and the inclusion of a Senheisser SK 5012-U wireless mike package as our wireless just crapped out. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded during the after-party. Winners need not be present to win but seriously, what's the fun in that?

  4. All decisions of the screening committee, the jury and the staff of the NYSSFF are final except when a a Senheisser SK 5012-U wireless mike package is included in your crying, begging, teary eyed plea for mercy.
